The school recently held its International Culture Week to celebrate diversity and cultural identities. Co-organised by the English Society, the Chinese, History, Music, and Visual Arts departments, the four-day programme provided students with a wide range of cross-cultural experiences.

The event commenced with a focus on European heritage, featuring classical art showcases, stained-glass craft workshops, and language games. On the second day, activities highlighted the traditions of South and Southeast Asia, where students participated in Henna and Rangoli art sessions, sampled traditional sweets, viewed regional attire, and attended a Nepalese dance performance. The third day centred on English-speaking nations, offering idiom challenges, tongue twisters, and craft sessions focusing on Aboriginal dot painting and dreamcatchers. The week then concluded with a comprehensive celebration of Chinese culture. This final day featured mask-painting workshops, a cheongsam exhibition organised in partnership with the Chinese Cheongsam Association, a performance by the Chinese Orchestra, and traditional tanghulu treats.

Overall, the event offered students an engaging way to explore different global traditions and cultures.

On 30th April 2026, the Anniversary Thanksgiving Ceremony took place in the school hall to mark the school’s growth and development. The event was attended by Guests of Honour Rev. Cheung Hon Keung, Minister-in-Charge of The Church of Christ in China Mongkok Church, and Mr. Fong Yick Jin, Chairman of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation. During his address, Rev. Cheung discussed the importance of passing on the school’s heritage and encouraged both staff and students to maintain and strengthen established traditions. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to recognise the achievements and service of outstanding students and teachers.

Immediately following the thanksgiving service, the school held the inauguration ceremony for the S1 Yi Yun Form Association. The proceedings commenced with the school supervisor, Rev. Wong Ka Fai, and the principal, Dr. Mui, presenting the association flag to the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson. After the presentation, the two student leaders delivered their inaugural speeches to the assembly. The proceedings concluded with all S1 students singing their association song together and delivering a series of performances, demonstrating their various talents and a strong sense of unity.

Nine Student Librarians participated in the “Reading Across Horizons” Shared Reading Session cum Joint Primary and Secondary School 30‑minute Read, organised by the Education Bureau on 23rd  April at Kai Tak Sports Park. They contributed to setting a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Multimodal Reading Lesson”.

Witnessed by Professor Zhu Xinhua of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Mr. Chan Chi Kin of the Curriculum Development Council, the lesson involved over a thousand teachers and students on-site and over 30,000 participants online. An official Guinness World Records adjudicator presented the certificate to Miss Katharine Choi Man-yee, Acting Deputy Secretary for Education.

The lesson was led by famous host Mr. Lam Po‑loy (Patrick Sir), singer Alfred Hui Ting‑hang, and Playback Theatre instructor Mr Chan Ying‑kwok.

During the session, our student He Pin Ru shared her perspectives on multimodal reading when invited by the host. The event concluded with a collective recital of the “Reading Declaration” and a thirty-minute shared reading period. Subsequently, He and her fellow schoolmate Chew Chiu Man Sherman were interviewed on RTHK’s programme “18 Hours of Sunshine” to share reading tips.

Additionally, the School Principal, Dr. Mui Lai Yuk, alongside students Chung Uen Ting and Wong Hoi Ki, participated in a telephone interview on the same programme to discuss the school’s strategies for promoting reading and the implementation of multimodal reading in teaching.

To mark the national designation of the fourth week of April as National Reading Week, the school organised a shared reading initiative ‘Reading Together’. As part of the programme, students selected significant excerpts from their favourite books to transcribe onto book cards for exchange with their peers.

Secondary One and Two student librarians produced short videos to promote their preferred titles; these were screened in the school canteen during lunchtime.

The event aimed to cultivate consistent reading habits and provide students with the opportunity to engage in the sharing of literature.
