Study Tour to Singapore
On the morning of 21st January, a total of 39 True Light students started their 5-day study tour to Singapore with the mission to learn about its multifarious cultures, urban development and science technology. Over the course of 5 days, students had a very packed schedule, but were able to enjoy their fruitful learning. Culturally, students had the chance to feel how Malays, Indians and Chinese live harmoniously together by learning about their history in the Malay Heritage Centre, tasting the Nyonya cuisine and visiting various landmarks and areas such as the Raffles Landing Site and Kampong Glam South. On science exploration, students learnt about the use of nitrogen by doing experiments, as well as making and eating ice-cream. They also visited the Science Centre Singapore, NEWater Visitor Centre and the Universal Studio to learn about how science is applied in our daily lives. Students learnt the concepts of Singapore’s master plan in urban development by visiting the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore City Gallery, Land Transport Authority as well as the Marina Barrage, since one aspect that the Singaporean Government prides itself in is its urban planning. All these gave students active learning experiences on what is taking place in Singapore and helped them reflect on the development of Hong Kong and their everyday lives. This trip to Singapore was a rewarding and eye-opening journey that has enriched students’ experiences and learning.
